ABOUT
THE AUTHORS:
Earl Steinbicker,
editor, author, and creator of the series
EARL
STEINBICKER
is a born tourist who believes that travel
should be a joy, not an endurance test. For over 35 years he has
been refining his carefree style of daytripping while working in
New York, London, Paris, and other cities; first as head of a firm
specializing in promotional photography and later as a professional
writer. Whether by public transportation or private car, he has
thoroughly probed the most delightful aspects of countries around
the world -- while always returning to the comforts of city life
at night. A strong desire to share these experiences has led him
to develop the "Daytrips" series of guides, which he continues
to expand and revise. Recently, he has been assisting other authors
in developing additional "Daytrips" books, further expanding the
series. He presently lives in the Philadelphia suburbs.
JUDITH
FRANCES DUDDLE,
(Daytrips
Scotland & Wales).
has always had a keen interest in travelling and
thoroughly enjoys the carefree style of daytripping. Even when she worked
for the British Government for 13 years, she enjoyed getting away on weekends
and taking trips to Scotland and Wales. Living in the North West of England,
it only takes two hours travelling time to reach Wales, where her family
now live.
During 1992, Judith was involved in a car accident that left her disabled.
Far from extinguishing her thirst for living life to the full, the experience
has actually enhanced it. Judith started writing about her true-life experiences,
and the articles about her have been published in British magazines and
local papers. She has also appeared on National Television and been interviewed
on Regional Radio Stations.
DAVID
CHEEVER,
(Daytrips Hawaii and Daytrips San Francisco)
DAVID CHEEVER lived in Marin County and worked in San Francisco
before moving to Hawaii. His penchant for running, biking and
walking caused him to venture into practically every corner
of Northern California. With relatives in San Francisco, he
still makes frequent trips to the Bay Area seeking new adventures
to bring to his readers. Cheever is a marketing executive who
lives in Honolulu with his family, and is the author of Daytrips
Hawaii, another book in this series.
NORMAN
RENOUF
(Daytrips Switzerland and Daytrips Spain & Portugal)
Although now living in Richmond, Virginia, NORMAN RENOUF
was born in London and educated at Charlton Central School,
Greenwich. From 1962 to 1989 he was employed by a variety
of financial institutions both in the United States and
the UK; the last eight of those years being spent in London's
insurance industry. Following that he has worked professionally
as a freelance travel writer and photographer on what,
previously,
had been a lifelong hobby. In the years since, he traveled
frequently and widely in both the USA and Europe. His previous
book in this series was "Daytrips Spain and Portugal," with
others projected for future release. In addition, he has
crisscrossed Europe updating the Berlitz Pocket Guides and,
in collaboration with his wife Kathy, has begun a "Romantic
Weekends" series of guides to attractive locations in America.
Jim
Postell
(Daytrips Australia)
and his wife have discovered many interesting
and varied tours through their extended stay in Australia.
A six-month visit
has turned into a lifetime love affair with this magnificent country
and its people. All of the tours in his book have been hiked, kayaked,
swum, cycled, driven, bused, and taste tested by Jim and Ann.
Jim has incorporated his varied travel experiences into this guide,
and contributes stories to local Australian magazines and publications.
His humorous insights, learning the culture
from a perspective of an American expatriate, will ease you into
a “no worries” tour
of a wondrous country.
